Couples who want to customize or bespoke their wedding gifts can create an Etsy registry.

Users can now access the wedding registry on Etsy, a platform that is known for its handmade and vintage products. Couples will be able create and add items to a list. Guests can search and buy gifts from Etsy registries.

Couples will be able, in addition to the handmade and vintage products for sale, to add customized gifts to their registry and specify customizations – names, colors or designs that sellers provide.

Sellers will still follow the same process as usual to fulfill orders, but they will display a badge indicating that the order was bought from a registry. If you want to shop from a registry, but don’t already have an Etsy profile, then you will need to create one.

It’s amazing that Etsy didn’t have a wedding registry feature before. Etsy has everything from neon signs and embroidered bridal party items to lockets made with human hair. Many of these products can be customized as gifts. Etsy is also a great place to find wedding decor like invitations and favors.

Etsy began as a platform for quirky and odd items created by artisans. However, after the initial policies were relaxed in order to allow mass produced goods, Etsy now has items that you would find at other big-box stores. Etsy still has a handmade policy that requires sellers to be involved in the production or design process.

This policy change allowed for drop-shipped and print-on demand items to be sold by Etsy. While this may have been popular among shoppers, it was a pain in the neck for some sellers. After the company announced an increase in the seller transaction fee thousands of Etsy stores went out on strike last spring to protest policies including what type of items are permitted on the marketplace. After the strike, some of the shop owners that took part in the action formed the Indie Sellers Guild. This is a nonprofit advocacy organization for anyone who sells vintage, handmade, or craft items.
