Shubman Gil setss record after IPL debut
Punjabi-born batsman Shubman Gill has become the first Indian in history to score hundreds across three formats of international cricket and the Indian Premier League during a calendar year. His first hundred this year came in an ODI in Hyderabad against New Zealand.
He scored his first T20I century against the same team in Ahmedabad. Then, at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he also achieved his first Test hundred.
The 23-year old also broke Sachin’s record of 13 years. He was the first player in IPL history to reach fifty without hitting a six. Tendulkar did the same in 2010 when he scored a fifty off 23 balls against Delhi Daredevils.
