Neeraj Choopa, the gold medalist in the javelin event at the Tokyo Olympics Neerajchopra, was asked if he would ever consider playing in the Indian Premier League after his javelin career.
The Indian cricket team is incredibly popular , the Olympic gold medalist told a press conference before his match on May 5th. “Indian bowlers also are very good. They have a quick arm. We need a quick arm in javelin as well. It is therefore a talent that I believe India has. “This is a big plus for us,” he said.
He was comparing javelin with cricket to show that it wasn’t just his Olympic gold medal for the latter sport that made the latter sport famous. He joked that, if allowed to throw javelin the same way he does when he bowls, he could join the IPL.
Chopra replied, “It’s tough because cricket is such a physical game. But we will see.” Chopra was asked if he would ever play in IPL. Chopra jokingly said, “If they allow me to throw javelins like I do when I bowl, I could join cricket.”
