The star pacer of Mumbai Indians , Jofra archer who was signed for INR 8 billion by the franchise, chose to fly to England before the 16th Indian Premier League’s (IPL) campaign ended. He has only played five matches this season and taken two wickets.
This year, the five-time champions have had a mixed IPL. Their bowling department is lacking experience except for Piyushchawla.
The star JaspritBumrah will not be playing due to a stress fracture in his back. He and Jofra Archer had been expected to form a deadly pairing but Archer, having missed the entire season of last year, has struggled with injury this time as well, before returning home to England.

Sunil Gavaskar doubts Jofra Archer’s commitment to MI
Sunil Gavaskar and the IPL fans were not happy when MI told them the same thing about Archer. Gavaskar was not shy in his criticism of the 28-year old’s commitment to Mumbai’s franchise. Gavaskar stated that Archer should have notified the franchise if he did not feel 100 per cent fit.
What has the Mumbai Indians experience been with Jofra archer? They gambled on him knowing he would only be available this season due to his injury. Gavaskar asked in his Mid-Day column: “They paid a lot for him and what has been given back?”
“There is no point in paying a single rupee to a player if they are not going be there for the whole tournament. Gavaskar said that if the player chooses to play for his country, he should be commended. However, if the player chooses to play in the IPL, he must fulfill all of his obligations and not leave early.
MI is currently in the race for playoff qualification. The team is ranked No.5 with 14 points after 13 matches. The road to the playoffs for MI will be smooth if they win their last match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants loses their matches.
