The 64th match in the 16th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings had all the excitement a cricket enthusiast could ask for. Dropped catches, missed runsouts, three halves-centuries and nearly a hundred were all part of the 64th match in the 16th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). Delhi Capitals won by 15 runs, and Punjab Kings had only one match left in IPL 2020.
Shikhar Dhawan’s team made a big mistake as they conceded 213 in 20 overs, and then failed at chasing it. PBKS missed the target by 15 despite Liam Livingstone’s valiant knock of 94 runs off 48 balls. It was not your typical finish. There were many twists and turns in the story.
DC scored 213/2 from their 20 overs. Rilee Rosouw (82* from 37), Prithvi Shay (54 from 38) and David Warner (46) were the stars with the bat. Shikhar Dawan was dismissed for a golden duck by Punjab in the early stages of their match. Prahsimran (22 out of 19) and Atharva (55 out of 42) both did their best to slow things down, but the scoring rate wasn’t there.
Punjab loses despite Liam Livingstone’s heroics
Liam Livingstone had only one goal in mind when he entered the arena: to win the game for Punjab. Livingstone was able to survive twice with the help of DC fielders. Then, he capitalized on these chances to keep PBKS in the match despite the wickets falling from the other side.
It all came down to the 33 from the last over. Livingstone hit sixes and fours on the second delivery and third delivery to keep Punjab in contention. Ishant sharma made a huge mistake and bowled the no-ball in his next delivery. Livingstone, however, failed to capitalize on the free hit. In the end DC won.
Fans were glued to their seats as the match swung like a pendulum. Twitter was filled with interesting reactions.
