Mumbai Indians, a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has signed England’s Chris Jordan for the rest of IPL 2023. Jordan was signed to replace another player, but it’s not clear who. Although the franchise hasn’t officially announced Jordan signing, reports confirm that the England pacer is now part of the MI camp.
Chris Jordan, who was registered with a base price INR 2 Crores, went unsold during the IPL Mini Auction 2023. Jordan was not sold at the mini auction despite playing in 28 matches and taking 27 wickets in the Indian T20 League’s history. Jordan was ignored mainly because of his economy rate below average (9.32).
ESPN Cricinfo confirmed that Jordan had been signed for the rest of the IPL 2023 by the five-time champions. The England pacer previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore as well as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings.
Mumbai’s fast-bowling squad is struggling in IPL 2023. Jordan’s arrival will help stabilize the team. Jasprit Bumrah, the five-time champions’ star fast bowler, was already ruled out of the IPL 2023 before it even started. Jhye Richison was also ruled out, and Jofra Archer recently returned to Belgium after visiting an elbow specialist.
Mumbai: Too much to celebrate
Mumbai Indians, who will play their eighth IPL 2023 match on Sunday against Rajasthan Royals, will have a number of reasons to celebrate. The MI franchise will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Rohit being appointed MI captain.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India will also celebrate the 1000th IPL match on Sunday when MI and RR face off.
