In the new financial model for 2024-27, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is expected to receive a staggering $230 million. According to reports, BCCI will receive around 40% of ICC’s net income.
England Cricket Board (ECB) is the next to earn 6.89%, which means they will receive around $41.33million. Cricket Australia will receive 6.25 percent, or around $37.53 millions. The only other board to receive more than $30 million from the Full Members, apart from these three, is Pakistan Cricket Board. The ICC can pay them $34.51, or 5.75%.
The 12 boards of Full Members will receive a total amount of $532.84 millions. The remaining 11.19%, or $67.16 millions, will go to the Associate members.
What criteria was used to grade the boards for distribution?
ICC makes close to 600 million dollars per year. Its earnings from the sale of media rights in five different parts of the world are around $3.2 billion. Disney paid $3 billion for the broadcast rights to international cricket matches in India.
The ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs (F $CA) committee presented the new financial model based on a few criteria. ESPNCricinfo cites these criteria as:
- Cricket history.
- Performance of both women’s and men’s ICC events in the past 16 years.
- Contribution to the ICC commercial revenue.
- The status of a full member is also given equal weight.
