Ambati Rayudu, Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK), clarified his tweet that was interpreted as a jab at Sunil Gavaskar over the former’s remarks about Rayudu. The veteran batter dismissed reports that claimed the CSK batsman took a jab at the former commentator and cricketer for criticizing him. Rayudu called these reports “nonsense”.
Gavaskar noted that Rayudu’s early dismissal was due to his lack of time spent on the field. This occurred in CSK’s eighth IPL 2023 match against Rajasthan Royals. CSK has used Rayudu as an impact player in this tournament. It hasn’t worked out well, as Rayudu only scored 83 runs with a highest score of 27* in eight matches.
Gavaskar, referring to these numbers below average, said that a batsman cannot just walk out and begin hitting the ball. “You’ve got to get on the field. You can’t just walk out and start hitting the ball. Gavaskar said that ,” you can’t just come out and start hitting the ball. Ambati shared a tweet on the following day that was perceived to be a dig against Gavaskar.
In life and in sport, there are always ups and downs. The results do not always reflect our efforts. We must be positive, keep working hard, and stay focused. Rayudu tweeted on Friday: “Keep smiling and enjoy the journey ..,”.” After this tweet backfired, CSK’s batter sent out another tweet a few minutes later which clarified the previous one.
“What nonsense… My tweet has nothing to with the great Mr Gavaskars’ comments…his opinion is well respected, and in regard to my fielding. Rayudu clarified that a player does not decide whether he will field ,” or not.
Ambati Rayudu is not the only Impact Player who struggles in IPL 2023
Commentators will still be watching Rayudu, even though he avoided any controversy with this clarification tweet. Rayudu’s not the only player struggling to make a mark. Prithvi is in the same league with Rayudu. The DC opener scored 47 runs so far in six matches.
