Google created a doodle in honor of English actor Alan Rickman, to celebrate 36 years since his legendary performance in “Les Liaisons Dangereuses”, a Broadway production for which he received a Tony Award and helped launch his career.
He became an international star for his intimidating, frightening, and captivating performances in seven Harry Potter films.
Alan Rickman was born in West London on February 21, 1947. He is best known for playing Severus Snape, the main character in Harry Potter. In the movie Die Hard, his role as Hans Gruber was one of the most iconic antagonists ever.
According to his Google page, Alan Rickman, in addition to acting, was also a painter who studied graphic design. The page states that he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company where he performed in The Tempest, Love’s Labour’s Lost, and other plays. In 1985, he became a star when he played the anti-hero Le Vicomte de Valmont (Dangerous Liaisons) in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. He began to receive offers for films after earning a Tony Award nomination for his performance.
Alan Rickman, who was known for his negative roles in films and television, and the character of Professor Snape in Harry Potter, continued to have deteriorating health. He died in 2016 after a long illness.
