Gujarat Titans players will wear lavendar colored kits at their final home match on the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on May 15, to support the fight against cancer. Hardik Pandya and Co. are set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 15.
According to a press release, GT selected lavender as their color of support as it represents all forms of cancer. It also serves as a powerful symbol of the lives that are affected by the malignant disease. It is also a way to spread awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and prevention. Lifestyle changes can help reduce the risk for developing cancer, as well as regular screenings.
In a press release, Hardik Pandya , GT skipper, said: “ cancer is a deadly disease that millions of people in India and around the world are fighting. As a team, our responsibility is to raise awareness about it.”
We wear lavender jerseys to show our solidarity with cancer survivors and their families. Pandya said, “We hope that our actions will encourage others to support cancer patients and take preventive measures.”
Gujarat Titans top the points table
Hardik Pandya’s team, just like in the previous edition of Indian Premier League(IPL), has topped the table of points until now. The team has eight victories from 11 matches, and could be the first to qualify for Playoffs.
On Friday, May 12, the defending champions will play Mumbai Indians who are third in the standings. The Gujarat team will play their final league game on Sunday, May 21, against Royal Challengers Bangalore after playing against SRH in their last match at home.
