Steve Smith, the former captain of Australia and India’s Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara will share a dressing room with the Indian Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara before the World Test Championship Final on June. Both Test players for their respective nations will be playing for Sussex County Championship. Pujara, who is leading Sussex in England, will be joining the camp within the next few days. Smith will play up to three matches.

The combination of Steve Smith at No.4 and Pujara as No.3 will give Sussex the highest-profile batting line up. Pujara, India’s most renowned batting star, has been playing for Sussex in the County Championship since a long time. Smith, on his part, has recently joined the county team in order to prepare for both the WTC Final and the Ashes of 2022-23.

Smith will play three matches for Sussex, including away games against Worcestershire (4-7 May), Leicestershire (11-14 May) and home matches against Glamorgan (18-22 may). These games will prepare the Aussie legend for the WTC Final and the Ashes series.

Cheteshwar pujara is excited about Steve Smith joining the team

Pujara spoke about the interesting partnership he has with Smith, and that he may have mixed feelings when he shares the dressing room with a fierce opponent. “We’ve spoken but we’ve mostly played against eachother. After the game against Gloucestershire, Pujara said that it would be great to play with him.

“I’ll try to get his thoughts and try to know him better.” Pujara acknowledged that it would be mixed emotions, playing with Smith, who he will be locked in a fierce fight with within three weeks after sharing the dressing room. It will be mixed emotions because we will be playing in the WTC final. We have great battles on the field, but we’re good friends off the field .”
